Beer and Breastfeeding

I love beer. Funny. I just said I "love" beer. Maybe love is too strong a word. Probably not though. It's not just the beverage I enjoy but all that goes along with it.

Relaxing on a hot day. Kickin' back with my best friend in the whole universe, my husband. Grilling out back in our gorgeous back yard while the kids bug play around us. Ending the day with a movie and beer next to the most handsome man in the world, my husband.

It's so much more than just a drink to quench my thirst. And I really don't care to have that discussion non-beer drinkers try to have with me... "won't a glass of tea work just as well?"

Sure but I also like the taste of a good dark beer or even a Miller Chill.

So what does beer have to do with breastfeeding. Beer is a galactagogue. That means it enhances the milk production. I've had a nice curvy figure over the last week. Compound that with Sterling's longer stretches of sleep at night and my boobies are full.

I'm sure my readership of 5 has now dropped to 2 after this post and yesterday's lol. But that's OK! I don't journal so here it is ;)

Stay tuned for more tantalizing posts...

You go girl! I love your honesty and not caring what others think...I always have. Maybe that's what I need to try while nursing...mine don't make a plentiful supply. Oh how I don't enjoy them though...martinis, now that's a different story. ;)

Girrrl I love a good beer too.
I'm not ashamed of it. Good beer is so much better than any other drink on a hot day on the back porch. I'm actually glad to hear you say you like a beer too. I'm still your friend. ;)

I made a promise not to drink after an incident that happened where I blacked out. That's between me and God. However, for medicinal and cooking purposes, I do have alcohol (such as in Nyquil or cooking wine). I had not had a good beer (which I also truly enjoyed) since 1998, but I drank two of them while trying to get my milk to come in for this baby. It was a nice treat after nearly ten years... but it didn't really help the milk come in this time. :(

I can tell you that today - after attending the Arlington Homeschool Book Fair this past weekend, I want a six pack to make that little boy take a nap! LOL He hasn't slept all day except for between cluster feedings as I'm switching him from side when he dozes off. Can't put the little bugger down. That's what I get for taking him off his 'schedule' (loose use of the term to begin with)... and for taking him out of town for a weekend!

Thanks for stopping by and so sorry it took me a few months to get back to you! :) I'm cleaning my inbox out today.

I don't like beer. But I like your blog. Now, me not liking beer doesn't mean I never have one... sometimes you just want a nice cold beer. Too bad I can't get the BEST beer out here... Cerveza Gallo is only available in Guatemala : /
but, anyway...
I am loving your blog & just wanted you to know... I'm gonna follow you now. How stalker-ish of me ; )
