Thanks for sharing that, and also the info about Rob Bell. Last year we went through some of the videos in Rob Bell's series with our youth group, and it didn't take us long to figure out that something was wrong with it all. It's time to get back to the Bible, and really learn what God has already spoken.
So, do you agree with ALL the preachers mentioned? Yes, I believe some are obvious. But if Joyce Meyer (for example)is speaking prosperity, I have to wonder if the point of her teachings are being missed. And how is "The Shack" teaching prosperity? Help me with this. It's interesting b/c I was just studying about this in Beth Moore's Living Beyond Yourself Study and Day 1 emphasizes how we are told we will suffer (Acts 14:22), while Day 2 takes us through 2 Peter 3:18 and reminds us there will be false teachers, greedy for power. I think our main prayer should be for our eyes to be open to false teachings, remember that all of these teachers are human and rely on the Word and guiding through the Holy Spirit as the ultimate authority.
James 1: 2-6 2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
2 Timothy 3:12 (NKJV) Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
